Bats Finally Woke Up

The New York Mets finally woke up last night against a sleepy Marlins team. The Mets bested the Miami Marlins 10-4 and the hit parade for the Mets seemed never ending. Every Mets starter got a hit last night including four nukes. Starling Marte started off the scoring barrage with a blast to left in the 3rd inning. The game was close until the 5th inning when the Mets offense finally exploded.

Acuna opened the inning up with a chopper to 3rd for an infield single. Jose Siri got his first extra base hit with the Mets and first rbi with a double to right center to bring in Acuna. Marte got drilled in next at bat to bring Soto to the plate with runners on 1st and 2nd. Then Pete Alonso the polar bear stepped to the plate with the bases loaded (Pete still searching for his first homer of the year and chasing history this year as the Mets all time HR leader). Pete worked a great at bat and bombed a low and away 3-2 pitch 400 feet to right center to put the Mets up 6-1.

3 batters later, Luis Torrens steps to the plate with Mark Vientos at 1st base. Torrens unloaded on a ball to center that needed some help getting out of the yard. Marlins CF Derek Hill was tracking the ball to the wall leaped up with no time to feel for the wall and missed. Not only did Hill miss the ball, but the ball bounced off the top of his glove and over the CF fence. A disastrous inning for the Marlins capped off with a blunder in center.

For the Mets, it was a great inning in which they scored 7 total runs after only scoring 5 total runs in their last 3 games. As a Mets fan it was a game we needed as fans and they needed to get their confidence back up coming off an opening series loss. Missing their captain Francisco Lindor after the birth of his son on Sunday (Congrats Lindor), the Mets came out and kicked ass.
