BREAKING: Tom Hanks is at the Mets Game

This may be the biggest tragedy of the early 2025 season for the New York Mets. Tom Hanks is at Citi field tonight to watch the Mets open up a 3 game set against Arizona, and I couldn't be more disgusted.

Hanks, most well known for playing Forrest Gump and bringing Covid-19 to the United States, has also publicly flaunted score cards from Dodgers' games he's attended throughout the years, including this season's home opener. He was seen on SNY's broadcast pretending to be excited that Lindor hit a homerun. Considering he's on the first base side, I wouldn't be shocked if he was sent in with an advanced listening device to capture intel for the enemy Dodgers. Hanks last 10 movies have tanked so it's no shock that he needs the work, and who better to send undercover than a former Academy award winner.

There may also be a much more sinister game at play here, however. When people like this start showing up to watch OUR Mets play, we need to be wary. The last thing we need as a fanbase are these celebrities flocking to Citi Field for click bait and free press, and driving up ticket prices in the process. Its a slap in the face enough that he showed up to Citi on $5 Tuesday (cheap fuck). When the all of the rich fucks start showing up to Mets' games, Steve (being the great businessman that he is) will have no choice but to upgrade the deal to caviar buckets, and nobody who actually loves the Mets will be able to get one. For too long, we've been tortured by this organization with false promises of hope. For too long, have we watched them show promise just to blow the division in September. For too long, have we thought our time has finally come. Where was Tom Hanks during the Wilpon era? That's right! He was in LA sitting in his air conditioned suite looking down at all the peasant influencers and TV actors that could only afford box seats on the first base line. Tom you're not going to lead the brigade of prickly prominent people into our stadium now that the Mets are "cool" enough to bless with your presence. Go take a hike, or even better, Run Forrest Run."
