Much Ado About Soto’s Shuffle

The New York Mets are currently leading MLB in wins early in the 2025 season. They are 20-9 with a 4.5 game lead on Philadelphia for in the NL East. The missing piece so far for the Mets has been their $500 million man, Juan Soto. Early through the season, we’ve seen what makes him worth $500 million, as this is what the floor looks like for Soto. He’s batting .257 with a .378 OBP. The guy is in the mix every night getting on base and scoring runs, but hasn’t shown his ability to carry the squad yet. Through all of this, I cannot possibly fathom why the fuck we are talking about the Soto Shuffle.

The guy’s just not comfortable yet, it’s not a big deal. The Mets are winning baseball games, I don’t give a shit if Soto shuffles his feet after taking a pitch. This is the type of bullshit Yankees fans worry about. Juan Soto is an Alpha level hitter who’s just not locked in yet (it’s April by the way), he doesn’t need our pity fuckin cheers when he gets to the plate 2 weeks into his first season of a 10 year contract when he’s batting .250. It probably makes him sick to know he’s playing like a normie and see all of us peasants stand and applaud him simply blessing us with his presence.

The guy is a World Series champion and MVP caliber player. It’s embarrassing to watch my peers cheer for him like he’s little Timmy with asthma when he does his job. Where are the standards? The guy’s been average, and we’re obviously all waiting for him to break out. We shouldn’t be booing the guy off the field for the same reason. Can we relax with the stupid gimmicks and let the guys play? We can panic in June.
